Whilst work progresses on island on Brown Bear’s frame and motion, at the works of our friends at Midcam Engineering in Barnsley, her cab and tanks are taking shape.

As we enter the 4th year of the appeal, donations are remaining steady but we still need your support to complete her and have her in steam at Groudle by 2018.

We are aiming to recreate the scene of two Bagnall locomotives (Sea Lion and Polar Bear) operating at Groudle Glen as it would have been in the early part of the 20th century, by constructing a replica of Polar Bear in the form of Brown Bear to operate alongside Sea Lion.

Polar Bear now operates at the Amberley Museum in Sussex, but is visiting the railway for our 120th Anniversary celebrations in July this year; for more details check out our timetable page and download the details.

For more details as to how you can support the Brown Bear Appeal and the rewards available please check out the Brown Bear Appeal page. Thank you.
