Two months of bright and sunny weather has been kind to the railway at Groudle and we’ve seen a bright start to the summer in glorious surroundings. Since service began at the beginning of May, guests to the railway have been treated to warm and dry weather and a trip through the glen to a cliff top sun trap at Sea Lion Rocks, something that has been proving popular.
Wednesday evening services began in mid June and likewise the warm, summer evening’s have enticed many out to the railway for a pleasant evening.
There has been a downside to this wonderful weather, the glen has become tinder dry and the risk of fire has increased. As a result steam locomotive Annie has been ‘sitting out’ services to prevent unwanted major fires in the glen and steam outline diesel loco ‘Maltby’ has been running services in recent weeks.
The railway and tea rooms continue to be open throughout the summer; Sundays 11am to 4:30pm and Wednesday Evenings 7pm- 9pm.
